Viewer Profile

Alberto Mielgo is a Spanish director, artist, and animator. He is best known for his work on Love, Death & Robots and Into the Spider-Verse. His style is known for its bold, almost expressionist use of color and shape language, and his animations are similarly bold, with a choppy flair. His past clients include big names like Sony, Netflix, and the band Gorillaz. His website states that he prefers to only work on art direction or production design unless he is directing, and is not open to family-friendly content.

Alberto Mielgo was born in Spain, but he lives and works in Paris, London, Berlin, and Tokyo, and is currently between Los Angeles and Berlin. His notable achievements include winning 5 Primetime Emmys, 1 Oscar, and 3 Annie Awards. He is completely devoted to his work, dedicated to contributing to the evolution of digital animation. Mielgo also apologizes in advance for not answering time-consuming emails. He is also not doing commissions at the moment.

PART B

  • Lindsey Olivares (Character Design)

https://www.lindseyolivares.com/

The site is simple, clean, and straight to the point, but there are more pictures than writing or comments. Just as a personal preference I would like to see more text but the strengths are in emphasizing her artwork and being able to find everything easily.

  • Michael Cusack (Animator, Writer)

Personal: https://www.michaelcusack.net/

Studio: https://www.cusackcreatures.com/

This site is not the best. It is hard to read the text because of the bright background and text color. It could be better if it were fixed to be easier to read. (However, his studio website is much, much better. It looks legit, has everything where it needs to be, and I can tell this person worked on Smiling Friends, a show I like)

  • Melanie Cordan (Animator & Author/Illustrator)

https://www.melaniecordan.com/

I feel like this site is clean and professional-looking while also having a smidge of her personality with the soft colors that complement her style. It is pleasing to the eye and organized in my opinion.

  • Yoshitaka Amano (Visual artist, Character designer, Illustrator)

https://www.yoshitakaamanoinc.com/

His website is pretty decorated, and has very limited work, it was about 3 pieces that I saw. There were also very few menu options. I think it's more of a showcase of his visual art work than it is a portfolio.

  • Jason Chan (Character Design/Illustration)

https://www.jasonchanart.com/about2

This website I think is one of the best I've seen, in my opinion. It looks sleek and organized and everything looks to be where it is supposed to be. It is legible, clean, and I don't have many complaints. It is just what I expect from an artist working at a big game company.
